Holidays with Friends & Family

We left Brevard, NC and set the navigation for Savannah, after a quick rest we drove to our friends house in West Palm Beach to spend Thanksgiving with them.

On the way down Interstate 95 we stopped at our favorite Donut Shop in the country. Donnie's Donuts in Ormond Beach, FL. They have a few locations now (including one in Atlanta, GA), but our favorite is that original location.

We had a great couple weeks with our dear friends and a wonderful holiday.

Did some fishing, had some bites, but not luck. Really enjoyed this relaxation time!
Then is was time to pack up and head to Atlanta to spend a month with family for Christmas & New Year's. It was nice spending time with family over the holidays.

Toward the end of our stay we put our car up for sale, US travel was coming to an end for a good while. This was our last "big" item. We considered keeping it and storing it with family, but being an older Hybrid, we knew that sitting for long periods of time would kill the high voltage battery and cost us a lot to repair. Goldie was really good to us, but it was time let her go. So down the road she went after being on Facebook Marketplace for about a week. It was sad, and felt like the end of an era. But it was time. Her new owner loves it, so we're happy!

Back in April 2023 we booked some cruises for January 2024, it's been a dream of ours to "live" on a cruise ship for a month. After the cruises we had a 3.5 month stay in Mexico City booked.

Saying goodbye to home didn't come without heavy emotions. Let's face it, home is home. Miami is where we met. It's where we went to college. Most of our friends are there. But, we knew we were ready for a change. We ran the numbers until we were blue in the faces, and then ran them again with worst case scenarios. Roadtrip - Wisconsin to Arizona - October 2022

Next stop, Phoenix! But first..... We left Wisconsin in Mid October. Once we mapped everything out we noticed that we would be passing Cadillac Ranch just outside of Amarillo, TX. It was a neat roadside stop and a piece of Americana that's really neat to see. There is a stand selling cans of spray paint so you can "leave your mark" on the cars stuck in the ground, but we passed a family that was nice enough to hand-off their unused spray paint so we could partake. We paid it forward before leaving and handed them off to another family. We knew we wanted to spend a bit of time in New Mexico, so after a couple hotel stays and roadside attraction stops(Iowa, Kansas & Texas), we finally made it to our Airbnb in Albuquerque, NM.  We stayed about 5 nights and explored the area. Life In The Desert - Fall/Winter 2022

Our time in Phoenix was a period of transition. This was our first long stay since leaving our old lives behind where it was just us. We learned a lot about ourselves and each other. Growth is good, this was a big shift. We went from shift-work and being apart at times for days, to together 24/7. We're lucky that we are such a good match for each other. I can honestly say that we're best friends, we wouldn't have it any other way. We found a great gym nearby at a community center and settled in to a healthy routine. Phoenix has a lot of temptation though, there are so many excellent restaurants and breweries. The winter holiday season brought a lot of parades and festivals, we enjoyed attending these events and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Those desert sunsets are something special. Our landlords in Phoenix were amazing, they have become close friends and we can't wait to get back there visit them! We shared so much quality time together.  We're forever grat...
