Norwegian Encore - 7 Day Alaskan Cruise - Late May 2023

Since we knew ahead of time that we'd be spending our summer in Seattle we decided book at Alaskan Cruise! We set sale on the Norwegian Encore at the end of May for a week long cruise. We went all out (for us) and got the drink package and specialty dining. The food and drinks onboard were amazing, this was our first cruise on Norwegian and definitely not our last. 

So many great choices, it's hard to choose!

All ports/stops were beautiful and we got lucky with great weather. Visiting Mendenhall Glacier was definitely a highlight. We took public transit to get here from Juneau, AK. It's only about 12 miles from Juneau, we had to walk the last bit to the park entrance.

While in Ketchikan, we took public transit to visit Saxman Totem Park. Side note, the ship port in Juneau had so many Bald Eagles. Flying overhead, landing on the top of the ship. It was majestic to see so many of them!

We got to experience a gorgeous sunset in Victoria, British Columbia.

The vastness is hard to explain until you see something like a huge ship looking like a toy in this environment.

Our favorite though, the day we spent in Glacier Bay. Everyone should experience that in their lifetime. We feel so lucky. Our ship captain on the Encore spent at least 1 hour spinning the ship at the end of Glacier Bay while we watched and heard the glaciers calving. When pieces broke off it sounded like claps of thunder! The simultaneos feeling of joy and grief struck us. We knew that this was due to the warming of our planet, but we felt lucky to have gotten there to experience this before it's too late..

I found this photo striking and funny; snow covered mountains in Late May alongside the ship's water slides and sun loungers. This was the day our ship captain spun the ship at the end of Glacier Bay.

Truly an unforgettable experience that we hope to do again. We enjoyed Norwegian, the crew was amazing and the ship was beautiful. The food was next level and we loved the Freestyle Cruising lifestyle.

Saying goodbye to home didn't come without heavy emotions. Let's face it, home is home. Miami is where we met. It's where we went to college. Most of our friends are there. But, we knew we were ready for a change. We ran the numbers until we were blue in the faces, and then ran them again with worst case scenarios. Roadtrip - Wisconsin to Arizona - October 2022

Next stop, Phoenix! But first..... We left Wisconsin in Mid October. Once we mapped everything out we noticed that we would be passing Cadillac Ranch just outside of Amarillo, TX. It was a neat roadside stop and a piece of Americana that's really neat to see. There is a stand selling cans of spray paint so you can "leave your mark" on the cars stuck in the ground, but we passed a family that was nice enough to hand-off their unused spray paint so we could partake. We paid it forward before leaving and handed them off to another family. We knew we wanted to spend a bit of time in New Mexico, so after a couple hotel stays and roadside attraction stops(Iowa, Kansas & Texas), we finally made it to our Airbnb in Albuquerque, NM.  We stayed about 5 nights and explored the area. Life In The Desert - Fall/Winter 2022

Our time in Phoenix was a period of transition. This was our first long stay since leaving our old lives behind where it was just us. We learned a lot about ourselves and each other. Growth is good, this was a big shift. We went from shift-work and being apart at times for days, to together 24/7. We're lucky that we are such a good match for each other. I can honestly say that we're best friends, we wouldn't have it any other way. We found a great gym nearby at a community center and settled in to a healthy routine. Phoenix has a lot of temptation though, there are so many excellent restaurants and breweries. The winter holiday season brought a lot of parades and festivals, we enjoyed attending these events and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Those desert sunsets are something special. Our landlords in Phoenix were amazing, they have become close friends and we can't wait to get back there visit them! We shared so much quality time together.  We're forever grat...
